Couple Therapy for Depression

Depression is increasingly diagnosed. Sufferers may experience it as an entrenched condition, or may find that it goes only to return. Whatever the pattern, it is disabling and a horrible experience both for the sufferer and for the people around them.

Couple Therapy for Depression (CTD) is a highly researched, new approach that has found that addressing depression in the couple can make a significant difference to long term healing.

In CTD I work with the couple so that all three of us address the depression as an ‘external’ challenge. Over 20 sessions we

  • Measure and monitor the depression weekly
  • Explore family history
  • Discuss intimacy
  • Examine communication styles
  • Manage difference

This new intervention, endorsed by IAPT, has a proven success record in creating long-term sustainable change.
